The new MRI facility at Our Lady’s Hospital.

New MRI Department at Navan Hospital to be officially opened

Meath footballer, Vikki Wall will officially open the new MRI Department at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan on 21st June.

The MRI department is a collaborative effort between Our Lady's Hospital and Alliance Medical. The MRI machine is located in a new specially built facility in the hospital.

The agreement between Alliance Medical and Our Lady’s Hospital will see inpatients and outpatients at the hospital scanned, Monday to Friday within work hours.

Outside of work hours, the MRI service will be used to scan private patients.

The service is supported by local highly qualified radiographers and consultant radiologists who use some of the most modern imaging equipment available to provide internationally accredited care to the highest standards.

Siobhán Sheridan, the Unit Manager for Alliance Medical Navan site commented: "As someone living in Meath for many years, I know this new MRI service is great news for the hospital and for the people of Navan. It's fantastic that the local community will benefit hugely from rapid access to state-of-the-art MRI scans. Alliance Medical are the largest private diagnostic imaging company in Ireland and are delighted to partner with OLHN on delivering this MRI service to the people of Navan and surrounding counties."

This new MRI service adds much needed additional MRI capacity into Navan and surrounding areas and will assist in reducing scan waiting times, which will result in more time-efficient care for patients in this region.

To receive a scan at the new facility you must be an inpatient or outpatient in the hospital. Alternatively, you can access the service with a referral from a clinician or registered medical professional. MRI scans can be purchased from €280.
