Eamon Ryan is set to step down as leader of the Green Party.

Mr Ryan is set to confirm the news in an announcement at Government Buildings at 12.30pm.

Mr Ryan, who is Minister for Transport and Climate, will not leave Cabinet, according to The Irish Times.

The news comes after disappointing results for the Green Party in the local and European elections. They claimed 23 local seats, a big drop from the 49 they won in 2019.

Mr Ryan was elected to the Dáil in 2002 and has been a TD for Dublin Bay South since 2016. He has been Green Party leader since 2011.
