It was a case of second time lucky for Moynalvey in the Div 3 Hurling final as they made amends for last year's final loss with victory over neighbours Dangan NS at Trim on Friday.

The opening half was a goalfest with six green flags raised in a hugely entertaining and high-skilled contest.

The opening three scores were points with Cormac Dunne and Tom McVann cancelling out James Hanafin's opener to give Dangan an early 0-2 to 0-1 lead. However, that was as good as it got for the Summerhill side.

James Byrne bagged the first goal in the fifth minute with a shot from distance that deceived everyone. A minute later Edward O'Shea produced a brilliant finish for goal number two and 30 seconds later James Hanafin also found the net to make it 3-1 to 0-2 by the seventh minute.

Tom McVann settled Dangan with a converted free, but Moynalvey's response was to fire a fourth goal from Edward O'Shea.

Tom McVann produced a stunning run and finish to fire a goal for Dangan, but Moynalvey continued to dominate with Edward O'Shea denied by a great save by Kevin Rispin.

However the scores kept coming for Moynalvey with James Hanafin converting three frees and Adam Dunne blasting a brilliant goal to make it 5-4 to 1-3.

James Hanafin continued to extend Moynalvey's lead with a '45' and a free securing a 5-6 to 1-3 interval lead.

Dangan threatened to make a game of it when Flynn Larkin found the net three minutes after the restart, but Chloe Heraghty restored Moynalvey's 15-point cushion with her side's sixth and final goal.

Tom McVann did pull a goal back for Dangan, but the game was over as a contest. James Hanafin (two) and Edward O'Shea (two) extended Moynalvey's lead and even though Conor Gray grabbed a fourth goal for Dangan and Tom McVann closed the scoring with a point it was Moynalvey who celebrated.
