Navan teenager boxes clever in Irish Cadet Championships

Now he is in line for place in Euros

Young Navan boxer Michael James McDonagh is certainly making his mark in the ring having recently won his category (Boy 3) in the National Cadet Boxing Championships.

The achivement has helped to ensure Michael James (who competes for the Tredagh Boxing Club in Termonfeckin) is in line to represent Ireland in the forthcoming European Schools Boys/Girls Championships in Bosnia.

Michael James, who is a student at Beaufort College in Navan, already has an impressive collection of titles won in local competitions in the Dublin and north east region. He is also part of a development squad made up of young boxers from his age group.

The 14-year-old has been boxing since he was four and is coached by Padraig McCullough.
