Tom Sheridan won the All-Ireland Emerald title last weekend.

All-Ireland glory for Farrelly and Sheridan

HANDBALL More glory awaits as Kells bid for 12th National title in succession

A large group of Kells Handball Club supporters travelled to the St Coman's club in Roscommon on Sunday morning for All Ireland final day and returned home in celebration.

Kells had two players representing Meath in finals. Tom Sheridan was first up in the All-Ireland 60x30 Emerald Masters final with his nephew Daniel Farrelly competing in the All Ireland 60x30 Junior final later in the day.

Sheridan showed his enduring class throughout and dominated his Tipperary opponent from pillar to post.

He rolled back the years with a fine display of kill shots and serving, winning on a score line of 21-0, 21-3.

Victory completed the clean sweep for Sheridan in the Emerald Masters division this year, he has won the All-Ireland 40x20 singles and doubles and also the 60x30 singles and doubles titles, as well as provincial gold along the way in each competition.

After progressing through the Leinster championship and All-Ireland semi-final in style, Daniel Farrelly also took on a Tipperary opponent for the All-Ireland Junior title.

This was a much closer affair throughout as Farrelly came from behind to win the first game by the narrowest of margins 21-20.

In the second game, Farrelly raced into an early lead but his opponent came back strongly to leave the game on a knife edge.

In the end Farrelly held his nerve to take the second game 21-20 and in doing so claimed the All Ireland Junior gold.

Both Sheridan and Farrelly will now turn their attention to the All-Ireland Club final on Saturday with team mates Brian Carroll and Gary McConnell.

Kells are bidding to win an amazing 12 Senior All Ireland club titles in a row.
