Knightsbrook Golf Club's Charity Event, an open four-person scramble competition takes place at Knightsbook Golf Club, on Friday next 30th August. All proceeds, team fees, sponsorships and donations will go to Meath Hospice Homecare, a worthy local charity that provides assistance, comfort and support to people who suffer from serious illnesses. Entry fee for teams is €200 and entry can be made via the golf shop or by contacting any committee member. Sponsorships of tees and greens are also available, by donation of €50 each. The event is sponsored by Peter Igoe of Knightsbrook Hotel, Spa and Golf Club.

At a meeting to finalise the event, captain Leonard Flynn urged all members and the local community to support the event, saying that '"every family in the county is touched by serious illness at some stage and Meath Hospice homecare depends on the generosity of the community to continue to provide this invaluable service."

Evelyn O'Shea, a volunteer with Meath Hospice Homecare, thanked Mr Igoe and Knightsbrook Golf Club for the initiative which she said will "provide much-needed funds to continue its service". The club has provided bank account details for anyone who cannot participate in the event but wants to contribute: Name : Bank Of Ireland, IBAN - IE70 BOFI 901634 84189671; BIC - BOFIIE2D

Also on Friday, the Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) will host its inaugural charity golf event at Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club to raise funds to support its mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Ireland's most vulnerable animals. With rescue and rehabilitation centres in Longford, Donegal, Mallow, and Wicklow, the ISPCA works tirelessly to prevent animal cruelty and neglect, providing rescued animals with veterinary care, a safe haven, and a second chance in new loving forever homes.

The decision to host a golf event stems from the ISPCA's ongoing efforts to engage the community in its mission and the charity hopes that the event will not only raise vital funds but also increase awareness about responsible pet ownership. The format of the event is a 10-minute interval tee-off, ensuring that golfers of all skill levels can join in the fun. In addition to the golf, there will be a host of other activities, including refreshments, a raffle and an awards ceremony.

ISPCA CEO, Dr Cyril Sullivan said: "We are incredibly excited about our inaugural golf event, and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with the community and raise vital funds for our cause. Every euro raised will make a significant difference in the lives of the animals we care for. We hope that this event will become an annual tradition, growing in size and impact each year.
