Tyrone All-Ireland winner to join Brennan's proposed team

Former Monaghan and Cavan coach also expected to link up with Meath

Robbie Brennan is in the process of assembling a strong coaching team as he pushes his bid to be named the next Meath senior football manager.

According to reports in today's Irish Times Brennan has enlisted former Tyrone All-Ireland winner and coach Joe Brennan to join his backroom team that also includes two-time All-Ireland SFC winner with Meath Bernard Flynn.

It is also believed that former Monaghan and Cavan coach Martin Corey has been recruited with Brennan also expected to bring on board more experienced coaches as he aims to convince the Meath Co Board that he is the best candidate to replace Colm O'Rourke who stepped down last month.

Former Mayo player and Leitrim manager Andy Moran was another named touted to be part of Brennan's management, but he is not mention by the Irish Times article.

McMahon won All-Ireland SFC titles as a player with Tyrone in 2006 and 2008 and he was also part of the coaching team under the joint management team of Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher which stepped down last month.

During his time as a coach with the Tyrone senior footballers McMahon won the Ulster and All-Ireland SFC crowns.

He also coached the Galbally footballers when they won the Tyrone and Ulster Club IFC in 2022 and he had a spell with the Fermanagh footballers in 2020 too.

Corey was coach with Cavan when they won the Ulster title in 2020 and most recently he was trainer with his native Monaghan during the tenure of his brother, Vinny, as Farney manager.

In that time Monaghan contested the 2023 All-Ireland semi-final, losing to Dublin. Corey was also coach with Castlerahan when they won back-to-back Cavan SFC titles in 2018 and 2019 – which remain the only two senior championships ever claimed by the club.

Brennan is currently managing the Kilmacud Crokes senior footballers and has guided the Stillorgan outfit to the last three Dublin senior titles.
