Ambitious club laying foundations for future

Hopes are high new facilites will be operational in 2026

One club laying down foundations for the future in just about every way is Duleek AFC.

Work is continuing the provision of a state-of-the-art soccer pitch at the club's base in Carranstown, just outside the Village.

The on-going work is part of a project that kicked off a number of years ago.

"Land adjacent to the existing pitches was purchased some years ago and immediately the wheels were set in motion to obtain Sports capital funding and grant aid from Meath Coco to part-fund this development," said club spokesman Lesley Richards.

"Planning permission was granted which includes a unique floodlight design, a generator, a robotic mower, dugouts along with a supporters stand and 8ft boundary fence.

"A local and well-respected contractor "Rock Sports Fields" will deliver a 21st-century sand-based pitch for this well-established club.

"The first phase will bring this development to grass level at a cost of €170k. Phase two and three are locked into a secondary Sports Capital Grant and if all goes we'll will see the first match played under floodlights in spring 2026."

The club is also putting a lot of effort into developing it's underage structures.
