Marc O'Driscoll to cover Laura Hogan maternity leave

Navan-based journalist, Marc O’Driscoll, has been appointed RTÉ's north east correspondent, covering for colleague Laura Hogan for the duration of her maternity leave.

Originally from County Cork but living in the north east for the past seven years, Marc has worked as a reporter for radio programme, Morning Ireland, on RTÉ Radio 1 since October 2023.

Prior to this, Marc was a news and sports broadcast journalist at LMFM Radio, where he developed an excellent sense of the news agenda in the north east and the issues and problems affecting the lives of the over 500,000 people living in Cavan, Louth, Meath and Monaghan.

Marc holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from Dublin City University as well as a Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Information Systems from Munster Technological University. He has also previously worked as a freelance journalist at Bauer Media Audio Ireland for Newstalk and Today FM, and as a broadcaster with AA Roadwatch on RTÉ radio stations.

Marc went to school at Coláiste Muire in his native Cobh and began his career as a young journalist covering Cobh Ramblers matches for Cork’s Red FM.

In Navan, he has been actively involved with the Navan Theatre Group team.

Marc says: “I am thrilled to get this opportunity to cover the position of north east correspondent for my colleague, Laura Hogan, so early in my career. I know that I have big shoes to fill but I can’t wait to get started! The north east is such a great region that is home to such great people. I am looking forward to bringing the issues affecting those in the region to a national audience and giving a voice to the people living in Cavan, Louth, Meath and Monaghan."
