The group of cyclists who took part in the first Spin for Tiarnán in 2022

'Spin for Tiarnán' takes place tomorrow

The third annual 'Spin for Tiarnán' event takes place tomorrow morning starting from Nobber GFC.

With a choice of a 5km or 10km walk/run or a 40km road cycle or 20km family cycle, there is something for everyone. Registration is from 10am with face painting for the kids and the cycles/walks/runs all set off at 11am.

Spin for Tiarnán is a fundraiser in memory of baby Tiarnán McDermott who was stillborn in 2018. Tiarnán's parents, Cathy and Garry McDermott, wanted to do something in memory of their son while also raising money for Féileacain, the National Stillbirth and Neonatal Birth Association, which gave their family huge support following the loss of baby Tiarnán. A portion of the funds will also go to local charities.

The 40km road cycle for the avid cyclists will leave Nobber with the route taking plenty of North Meath hills as it passes through Carlanstown, Kells, Gibbstown and Wilkinstown before returning to Nobber.

The 20km family spin is along the Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway from Nobber to Park Beo, Wilkinstown, and back again and is a fun event for all the family.

The walk/run route sets off in the opposite direction towards Kilmainhamwood with the 5km and 10km distances marked out to let people know where to turn back.

Registration is available by clicking on this link www.eventbrite.ie and cash registration/donations will also be accepted on the day.

There will be refreshments afterwards at Nobber GFC.

Later that evening a social evening takes place in Keogan's Pub, Nobber, with music and great prizes to be won in the raffle.
