Dunshaughlin all set for 2024 Harvest Festival

Three days of commuity spirit, celebration, and entertainment

The much-loved Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival returns this weekend, 27th to 29th September, bringing community spirit, entertainment, and celebration to the town. This year’s festival promises a packed schedule of events for all ages with a focus on sustainability, ensuring that the festival not only brings joy but also fosters environmental consciousness.

In an effort to make the festival inclusive, selected events will have ISL interpreters for members of the deaf community, and there will also be sensory-friendly hours for children who need a quieter environment. These additions aim to ensure that everyone in the community can participate and enjoy the festival atmosphere. A staple in the local calendar, first devised for visitors to the Solheim Cup at Killeen Castle in 2011, the festival will once again showcase the best of Dunshaughlin’s rich agricultural heritage, arts, culture, and local talents.

From live music and food markets to exciting family activities and artisan stalls, there is something for everyone to enjoy over the course of the weekend. Highlights of this year’s festival include: Friday Night Family Concert with Eamonn Toal, Stuart Gray, and Electric Lemon featuring Kiera Dignam, where you can bring the whole family for a night of fantastic music and good vibes.

Street Performances & Live Music: Talented local and visiting musicians will fill the park with lively tunes, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. From traditional Irish music to contemporary hits, there’s something to suit every taste.

Food and Craft Markets: Local food producers and craftspeople will display their goods, giving festival-goers a chance to enjoy the finest local produce and handmade crafts. Many stalls will highlight sustainable practices to tie in with the festival’s green theme.

Family Fun Galore: There will be plenty of activities for all ages, including bouncy castles, magic shows, novelty races, carnival games, and even musical chairs for competitive adults. Don't miss the tractor and vintage car appearances for a nostalgic touch.

Special Events: Look out for unique one-off events such as cooking demonstrations, pet shows, and competitions designed to bring the community together while keeping sustainability at the forefront.

Programme booklets, detailing the full schedule of events, are now available in local shops, or for more information, visit the official festival website: www.dunfest.com. This year’s festival committee encourages everyone from Dunshaughlin and beyond to join the fun and help celebrate the town’s rich cultural and agricultural heritage while promoting sustainability.
