€300k funding for Kilcloon Equine Therapy Hub

Stewarts Care Equine Therapy Hub in Kilcloon is to receive a grant towards staff costs.

Minister for Sport, Thomas Byrne has announced the funding boost for the newly opened facility.

"This is a project I've engaged on with Stewarts for some time. A funding allocation for €300,000 towards staff costs is being provided via the HSE to this new Equine Therapy Hub which provides equine assisted therapy to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Meath, Dublin, and Kildare.

“This is an essential service for many people and I have seen first-hand the tangible benefits provided and the impact it can have on attendees.

"Delivering this €300,000 demonstrates our continued commitment to local communities and making a meaningful impact for those who need it most."

He commended local councillor Caroline O'Reilly who worked tirelessly with him on this project since she became a councillor.

"This funding is now provided for 2024 and will also be included as part of the core funding allocation to the Equine therapy hub every year from January onwards.

"My sincere thanks to Minister for disabilities Anne Rabbitte for delivering on this funding."
