Bomb threat to home of Justice Minister Helen McEntee

Justice Minister Helen McEntee has found herself at the centre of another bomb threat made against her home at the weekend.

It is understood that the threat was made yesterday (Sunday) afternoon by a man claiming to be an inmate at an Irish prison and was issued through the Samaritans helpline.

While Gardai would not comment, it is understood that Gardai carried out a search of the property and that nothing was found.

A garda spokesperson said: " An Garda Síochána does not comment on security details relating to individual State officials or Government ministers. Gardaí are investigating a potential threat against an elected representative in the east of the country."

It is the third time that a threat was made claiming a bomb had been planted at the Meath East TD's home.

In April of this year, another threat was made that resulted in Minister McEntee's husband and young family evacuating their home. It is understood that Minister McEntee was not at home when the threats were made. Nothing was found..

Meanwhile, in March 2021 another hoax bomb threat was made when a man rang the Samaritans saying explosives had been planted at Minister McEntee's home. Gardaí were dispatched to her home, but found no evidence of any explosives.

The call was traced to the prison cell of convicted rapist, Michael Murray, who was jailed for an additional two years after being convicted of the offence.
