History of Summerhill to be launched by GAA President
BOOK LAUNCH
After many years in the making, the 'Summerhill- A history in Blue and Gold’ official book launch will take place on Wednesday 13th November at 7.30pm in Summerhill Community Centre.
It promises to be a very entertaining night of nostalgia and reminiscing, as generations of former and current Summerhill players, officers and supporters gather for this once in a lifetime occasion.
The book will be on sale on the night and is a must read for anyone who has a passing interest in Summerhill GAA Club.
'Summerhill- A history in Blue and Gold’ is the culmination of years of painstaking and dedicated research work by Donie Mooney and Jim Gilligan, covering all of the club’s ups and downs since its foundation.
From the successes in the early part of the last century, to the leaner years, to the glory days of the 70’s and right up to the present days, this book covers it all. The book will also chronicle the setting up and the growth of ladies football and their successes over the years.
This book will remember all those former players and club officials that worked so hard to get the club up and running in difficult times and to keep it going and made it into the vibrant club we are today.
The book has been professionally produced by former Meath footballer Liam Hayes and Hero Books. As well as the text, the book is jam packed with photographs dating back to the early days of the last century. The club greatly appreciates all who contributed to it.
Special guests on the launch night will be GAA President Jarlath Burns and LGFA President Elect Trina Murray.
An open invitation is extended to all who wish to come along and be part of this momentous occasion for the club. The launch will be followed by refreshments and a night of chat, reminiscing and conversation.
