Enfield Rathmolyon men's shed group's kind gesture to St Mary's Primary School
A kind hearted gesture saw members of Enfield Rathmolyon Men's Shed recently present planter boxes to St Mary's Primary School in Enfield.
The parish organises two very active 'sheds' for women and men, in the community.
The sheds are a community based environment, which provide participants an opportunity to meet, have a chat, a cup of tea (and a bun) while learning new skills, and undertaking a range of activities and projects.
The Men's Shed have completed a number of projects in the past year, including building a large wooden crib for the Parish, insulation and other works in their shed and photography workshops.
Their current project is to make a set of gifts for the parish schools. The first of these is two planter boxes for gardening work in the ASD Unit in St Mary's Primary School.
Speaking at the event, school Principal Mr Enda Flynn congratulated and thanked the men for these wonderful gifts, which provide an opportunity for the children to plant flowers and vegetables in their garden space.
Speaking on behalf of the Men's Shed, Fr. Patrick Donnelly PP noted the wonderful inter-generational connections that this project facilitates in the Parish. The teachers and pupils are all excited about getting going with their gardening, and promise to keep the men updated on their gardening activities.
