The new car park just outside Nobber has 19 spaces including two disabled spaces.

New greenway car park opens

A new 19 space car park providing direct access to the Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway at Spiddal, Nobber, on Friday.

A section of waste ground adjacent to the greenway has been developed into a car park and will provide safe access for walkers and cyclists. It is a popular location to access the greenway and cars were regularly parked along the roadway close to the railway crossing so the dedicated car parking is being very much welcomed in the area.

Also last week, a tarmacadam surface was laid on the 1.5km stretch from the Forge in Nobber to the Kilbeg Road crossing where the new car park is located. This section forms part of the local Slí na hOibre walking loop around the village.

A section of the greenway between the two road crossings in Castletown has also been tarmacadamed and again this forms part of the walking loop in the village. Drainage works were also carried out as part of the scheme.

Work is also underway on the car park at Gibbstown which will also provide 19 car parking spaces for greenway users. Construction of a footpath from the greenway at Gibbstown back to Kilberry village is due to commence in the new year.

A new car park close to Poles Cross near Kingscourt is also due to go to construction next year along with a footpath along part of the R162 Navan to Kingscourt Road at Ballinaclose which will also provide a local walking loop.
