Public support prompts Enfield butcher to reopen shop

Enfield butcher Padraig Coffey has done a partial u-turn on this decision to close his PC Meats butcher shop after being overwhelmed by requests in the local community.

After 38 years as a butcher, Padraig, who is also a local councillor for the Trim area, made the difficult decision last month to close the retail element of his business due to dwindling football and also rising costs. However, he said he would continue with the wholesale supply side of the business.

Following the closure, Padraig was inundated with requests from locals to reconsider his decision and from this week he will re-open three days per week- Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

"I have been overwhelmed with people asking me to reconsider so I have done a bit of a u-turn and will open for three days," said Padraig.
