Pride of Place - Navan Municipal District Awards night

The Navan Municipal District held the 2024 Pride of Place awards at The Ardboyne Hotel on Tuesday, October 29.

The Mayor of Navan, Cllr Edward Fennessy, extended a warm welcome to the attendees who represented the 35 applicant groups from the Navan Municipal District.

Cllr Fennessy emphasised the significant contributions of these groups in supporting various communities throughout Meath and acknowledged their remarkable efforts and achievements over the past year and beyond.

He remarked upon the enduring tradition of community development, volunteerism, and community action within Meath.

Mr. Martin Murray, the Director of Services for Navan Municipal District, expressed gratitude on behalf of Meath County Council to all volunteers for their dedicated work within the district.

He observed that many groups that participated in the initiative over 20 years ago continue to engage today, and each year the Council is pleased to welcome new applications from newly formed groups across the County. Mr. Murray indicated that the Pride of Place initiative represents a successful collaboration between the community and Meath County Council.

He highlighted that the relationships established through this initiative extend well beyond the competition period.

Additionally, he noted that from the perspective of the Council, the competition provides a valuable opportunity to observe first hand the extraordinary efforts that occur within local communities, which may otherwise remain unrecognised.
