Director of Services Des Foley also congratulated Deputy Dempsey wishing her well and as Returning Officer for Meath West, he thanked all the candidates who had run in Meath West including councillors French and Moore.

Cllr Dave Boyne asked what happens now in terms of replacing her. Mr Foley said there would be two co-options- Aisling Dempsey's seat and also Gillian Toole in Ratoath. As Deputy Dempsey was a member of a party, he explained that it was up to that party to nominate her replacement. Meath County Council is due to meet tomorrow (Wednesday) evening when both co-options are expected to be confirmed.
