Gavan Reilly 'blown away' after Christmas Day piano request session raises over €5k for autism charity

Kiltale native and political journalist, Gavan Reilly was left 'blown away' by people's generosity after donations to his Christmas Day Piano Request session raised over €5,500 for the autism charity, AsIAm.

"We’ve made it an accidental annual tradition that, on Christmas Day, we go live on Instagram and do piano requests - viewers comment, I play - and we ask for donations to AsIAm - Ireland’s Autism Charity, a cause that’s become very close to our hearts in the last few years," says Gavan.

"Delighted to say we’ve more than doubled the original €2k fundraising target and have raised more than €4,000 this year! I wonder can we make it to €5k in the end?…

Well, the Virgin Media News Correspondent and Meath Chronicle Political Columnist can wonder no more as the most recent figure sees the amount raised moving steadily towards the €6k mark.

"Bowled over by the generosity of so many good people - if you’d like to watch it back, you can see it at https://www.instagram.com/reel/DEAkGGWMbIH/
