2024 was a huge year for music, offering a wealth of new albums and singles for music lovers.

Metacritic, which ranks and scores music reviews from leading critics, ranked Brat by Charli XCX as the top album of 2024. It received a score of 95 out of 100.

It was followed by The Cure's 14th studio album, Songs of a Lost World, with a score of 93, and Absolute Elsewhere by Blood Incantation on 92.

Patterns in Repeat by Laura Marling (91) and COWBOY CARTER by Beyoncé (91) took fourth and fifth place respectively.

In terms of streaming statistics, Taylor Swift took the top spot for most streamed album globally in 2024, according to Spotify.

The top 10 albums globally in terms of streaming were:

  • The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology by Taylor Swift;
  • Hit Me Hard and Soft by Billie Eilish;
  • Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter;
  • Mañana Será Bonito by Karol G;
  • eternal sunshine by Ariana Grande;
  • 1989 (Taylor’s Version) by Taylor Swift;
  • SOS by SZA;
  • Lover by Taylor Swift;
  • Fireworks & Rollerblades by Benson Boone;
  • Starboy by The Weeknd.
