Ireland's oldest family newsagents gets new year off to a winning start with Millionaire win
Tierney's of Navan celebrates 130th anniversary in 2025
Tiereny's Newsagents in Navan sold the €1 million winning ticket in New Year's Eve Millionaire Raffle draw. Staff and customers of the country's oldest newsagents were thrilled when the news was announced at the Tierney’s Nearby store on Trimgate Street in the town.
Shop owner, Joe Tierney, was over the moon to start the year with a call from the National Lottery.
“I was thrilled to get the call that our shop had sold this year’s winning Millionaire Raffle ticket," he said. "Our shop is the oldest family newsagent in Ireland, across three generations. This year, we’ll be celebrating our 130th anniversary, so this win is an extra special celebration for us. We’ve had a few lottery wins over the years, but nothing of this magnitude – this is by far the largest. Receiving such good news on the first day of the year is wonderful, and the thought that everyone who bought a ticket is a potential winner is incredibly exciting. We’re looking forward to the buzz in the shop over the next while,” he said.
The National Lottery are continuing to urge Millionaire Raffle ticket holders to check their tickets very carefully from the New Year’s Eve draw as the top prize winner is yet to come forward. The winning ticket number which earned the top prize for the Meath player was 467908.
The winner, who now has a ticket worth a life-changing €1 million, is advised to sign the back of their ticket and make contact with the prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to claim their prize in Lottery HQ.
