Bohermeen Celtic claim trophy in exceptional circumstances

Opponents fail to field leaving the Celts as the champions

It was not the way they would have wanted to win a cup final but the u-16 girls of Bohermeen Celtic FC are the inaugural Combined League Cup champions.

In essence, the match at Kentstown Village Park today, lasted less than two seconds, referee Ken Ennis signalling a Bohermeen kick-off only to call full time with no opposition on the pitch.

Torro AFC failed to field a team for the fixture which would have been a keenly fought contest between the two sides who last met in the Shield Cup final before Christmas.

It was left to North East Regional League (NERL) chairman Peter Glynn and Louth School Girls League (LSGL) chairperson Robbie Corr to present the Cup and medals to Bohermeen Celtic skipper, Molly O'Brien and a jubilant squad.
