Three men charged in connection with weekend incident in Navan
A man wielding a chainsaw, another armed with a blow torch and a third who was in possession of a hammer were arrested by Gardai in Navan town centre following an apparent row at the weekend.
The frightening incident occurred at around 2am in the early hours of Sunday morning, 19th January, in the Market Square area of Navan when a row between two groups of males appears to have escalated.
Gardai were were alerted to the unfolding drama by members of the public and were quickly on the scene to arrest the three men and seized the chainsaw, blow torch and hammer. It is understood that the chainsaw was not in operation at the time. One person may have received minor injuries but this has not been confirmed.
The three men were subsequently charged with possession of offensive weapons and released on station bail to appear at Trim District Court on 11th February.
Navan Gardai are continuing their investigations and CCTV in the area is being examined.
