Lidl confirms opening date of new Enfield store

Lidl has confirmed that its new Enfield store will open on Thursday, 13th February.

It will bring to seven the number of Lidl stores in Co Meath and will see the creation of 20 new permanent jobs.

Local ladies’ gaelic football star Aoibhín Cleary will have the honour of cutting the ribbon on the new retail development and welcome shoppers into the new store.

The new supermarket offers a spacious shop floor with wide aisles, long tills, restrooms, and baby-changing facilities as well as an in-store bakery and parking.

Alongside opening day discounts, supplier demonstrations and family entertainment, the first ten shoppers across the doors will receive a gift card to redeem against their in-store shop.

The new store is Lidl’s 182nd store in Ireland and 225th store within the island of Ireland.

Construction of the state-of-the-art new store commenced last August, supporting 80 additional construction jobs to develop the 1,400sqm retail development.

With sustainability at its core, the new Enfield store will incorporate LED lighting, heat pumps, and PV solar panels to aid in reducing carbon emissions.

Speaking ahead of the new store opening Brian Smyth, Regional Property Director for Lidl Ireland said: “As we mark our 25th year in Ireland, I’m delighted to confirm our first new store opening of the year at Enfield, County Meath. Since opening our first store in the county at Trim in 2004, we have become a pillar of the Meath community, employing more than 140 people across our stores in Ashbourne, Bettystown, Clonee, Trim, Dunshaughlin and Navan and serving thousands of customers.

"The new Enfield store has been in high demand by local residents, with 93 per cent of residents pledging their support for the new store in the area and research showing that almost 60 per cent of residents travel to shop at Lidl stores in nearby towns Maynooth, Kilcock and Trim.

"We are thrilled to deliver on this demand and bring a state-of-the-art store to Enfield, bringing convenience, quality, and market-leading value to local shoppers. I know the new store team is excited to welcome the community to experience the new store, so I would advise shoppers to get down early and avail of our opening day offers.”

Meath Senior Ladies football team captain Aoibhín Cleary said: “I’m honoured to be selected to cut the ribbon on Lidl’s newest store in Meath and to meet with Lidl shoppers on opening day. Lidl has been a longstanding partner to LGFA and it’s great to see them investing further in the county and supporting more local communities. It’s a welcome boost for the area and I can’t wait to celebrate with shoppers on 13th February.”

In its latest impact report, Lidl Ireland announced it procured €91 million worth of goods and services from Meath suppliers and business partners in 2023.

Lidl’s key Meath suppliers include a longstanding and fruitful partnership with Meade Farm, developing the first-of-its-kind, innovative Lidl Farm. Together with Meade, Lidl has turned 8.5 acres of land into a free educational resource for schoolchildren at its Newbridge Distribution Centre.
