Meath players in action in Sigerson Cup final

There will be plenty of local interest in the Electric Ireland HE Sigerson Cup final between UCD and DCU Dóchas Éireann which throws in on Wednesday night (Connacht Centre of Excellence, 7.30pm).

While Dublin have the highest representation with 18 players across both competing panels, Meath are next with seven – and the match will see two clubmates go head to head.

Trim team mates Aaron Lynch and Ciaran Caulfield will be in opposition in Wednesday's Sigerson Cup final

County vice-captain Ciaran Caulfield (Trim) is joined by Jamie Browne (Donaghmore Ashbourne), Liam Kelly (Ratoath) and Niall Devlin (Navan O'Mahonys) on the DCU side.

On the UCD team, the Royals will be represented by Aaron Lynch (Trim), Diarmuid Moriarty (Curraha) and David McEntee (St Peter's, Dunboyne).

The Southsiders, managed by Galway’s John Divilly, are rated as slight favourites, having defeated TUD in a penalty shoot-out in the semi-final, after the sides finished level at 1-7 to 0-10 at the end of extra time.

DCU secured their place in the showpiece with a 0-14 to 0-10 win over Ulster University and hope to win a sixth Sigerson Cup title and a first since 2020. UCD, for their part, sit top of the roll of honour with 34 titles, with their most recent success arriving in 2018.

The match will be shown live on TG4 and referee is Sean Hurson (Tyrone).
