Lidl opens new Enfield store
Lidl opened its new Enfield store this morning with LGFA superstars including Meath Senior Ladies Gaelic Football Captain Aoibhín Cleary and Na Fianna and Meath County player Kerrie Cole officially cutting the ribbon and welcoming customers through the doors.
Crowds were gathered early to be among the first to step foot in the new state-of-the-art store and to take part in opening day celebrations, sample produce from Longford’s Panelto Foods and Cavan’s Liffey Meats, and avail of Lidl’s exclusive opening-day in-store offers.
The first ten shoppers through the doors this morning received complimentary vouchers to shop at the store.
To mark the opening, the store team in Enfield welcomed Fiona Murtagh, Yard Manager from local charity My Lovely Horse to accept a donation of €1,000 in Lidl vouchers.
The volunteer-led charity is dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming unwanted, neglected or abused equines, pigs, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, and other animals.
Since opening its first store in Trim in 2004, Lidl has been a pillar of the Meath community, having expanded its presence with stores across Ashbourne, Bettystown, Clonee, Trim, Dunshaughlin, Navan and now Enfield.
This new Lidl store has created 20 new permanent jobs for the local area, and supported 80 additional jobs through its construction and development.
Designed with sustainability at its core, the new 1,400sqm retail development incorporates LED lighting, heat pumps and PV solar panels to aid in reducing carbon emissions.
Customers can also enjoy a premier shopping experience encompassing a spacious shop floor with wide aisles, long tills, restrooms and baby-changing facilities as well as an in-store bakery and redeveloped parking and landscaping.
Speaking at the opening of the store, Lidl Enfield Store Manager Caoimhe Mc Grath said:
“We are thrilled to open this state-of-the-art Lidl store in Enfield, bringing convenience, quality and market-leading value to local shoppers. This has been a highly anticipated project so it’s great to see the doors open and so many local residents out in force. It’s been great for our new 20-strong team to see the support from the local community.
"As proud supporters of Ladies Gaelic Football since 2016, it was a real privilege to have Meath LGFA superstars Aoibhín and Kerrie cut the ribbon and join in the celebrations. I’m looking forward to welcoming the Enfield community to enjoy this significant new retail development over the coming days.”
Meath Senior Ladies Gaelic Football Captain Aoibhín Cleary said:
“The atmosphere here at the opening of Lidl Enfield has been fantastic, it’s great to see local shoppers out enjoying the new store and snapping up those opening day bargains. As the local Enfield community grows it’s great to see Lidl continuing to be a pillar of the wider Meath community and provide more locals with a place to shop. I’d encourage everyone to come down and check out the store.”
As part of Lidl Ireland’s commitment to Ladies Gaelic Football, the store team presented local club Na Fianna CLG with a bespoke set of Lidl training jerseys which was accepted by Deirdre Flynn on behalf of the team.
