Young Walterstown Lego enthusiast builds 9000 piece Titanic masterpiece!

A young Walterstown Lego enthusiast has built Titanic model masterpiece with over 9,000 pieces in a matter of weeks, writes Sally Harding.

Hugo Reynolds might only be eight years old but is a dab hand at creating Lego sets that have been designed for those of 18 years and over and completed the replica of the infamous ship that he got for Christmas in around four weeks in his free time.

"Santa brought this set, that is all he wanted for Christmas," says proud mum Roisin.

"He has a done a few 18 plus ones but this was definitely his biggest challenge," she added.

"It has taken over my hall table!"

The first class student in Lismullen NS began to take an interest in Lego from watching his twin sisters Rose and Jane (11) play with their own sets.

"He as two older sisters and I was always buying them Lego to try and get them to do something when they were inside so they'd start off doing it and half way through they'd give up and when Hugo was about five he used to come to the table and would end up finishing off all of their stuff," said Roisin.

"We brought him to Legoland for his eight birthday in October and he loved the Lego City part of it and would have spent the whole day engrossed in it if he could have," she added.

"My sister Niamh and my brother-in-law Shay who is really big into Lego were on the trip with us and he bought the Orient Express set while we were there and he had started it and said it was really difficult and by the time we were leaving at the end of the weekend, Hugo had finished it!"
