Chief Executive and Cathaoirleach will lead council delegation to the US for St Patrick's Day
Meath County Council is sending eight representatives to New York for St Patricks Day, while three will travel to London for the national holiday.
The delegation travelling to New York consists of chief executive, Kieran Kehoe, directors of service Martin Murray and Fiona Lawless, cathaoirleach, Cllr Sharon Tolan and councillors, Amanda Smith, Maria White, Paul O'Rourke and Yemi Adenuga.
The delegation travelling to London includes Des Foley, director of services, Cllr Wayne Harding and Cllr Sarah Reilly.
Cllr Tolan said that while in New York they will be meeting with Tourism Ireland, the IDA and the Meath Association in New York.
"Our chief executive, Kieran Kehoe is very keen to deliver the message that Meath is open for business, that we are a flagship for tourism and business."
Cllr Tolan said it is always great to meet the Meath Association in New York. "They fly the flag for us for the rest of the year."
She said that it is a difficult time for those Irish people in the US who are undocumented. "They are in a precarious situation, but it has always been difficult for them and unfortunately it doesn't look as if it will be resolved anytime soon. They add such value to the US with their hard work and contributions."
Cllr Wayne Harding said the Meath delegation will meet with the Meath Association of London and take part in the St Patrick's Day Parade.
"I've always found the Meath people in London really appreciate the local authority being there. They all keep up with what is happening at home, read the Meath Chronicle and can tell everything that is going on in Meath. They appreciate our presence there. They do a great job helping people who move over there, "he said.
Cllr Harding said they would also be promoting Meath business and tourism while in London.
Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Helen McEntee will travel to Australia this year while Minister for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne will visit France for the annual celebration. They are among 38 State representatives who will visit more than 90 cities in 40 countries for St Patrick's Day celebrations.
Minister McEntee will be visiting Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney, where she says the focus will be on enterprise. Minister Byrne will be travelling to Paris and Lyon, where Ireland recently opened a new consulate. He will he meeting with the Irish community in France, members of the French government and business people with interests in both France and Ireland.
