Dunboyne set to host county and national 10k championship
Dunboyne Athletic Club will host their annual 'Dunboyne Road Race' 10k on Sunday 23rd March.
This year’s event, the 54th hosting of the flagship road race, is sponsored by Comer Group.
This 10k has huge PB potential, it starts at the 'dead end' on the ‘Old Navan Road’, heads south through the village and follows a left-handed route via quiet country lanes around the ‘Moor Of Meath’ finishing the final 350m on the synthetic running track at Dunboyne AC's clubhouse.
This year’s race will also serve again as both the National and County 10k championships.
All 1,800 entries have been sold out for a few weeks. With a strong elite field entered, it promises to be an exciting race.
Last year, Sean Tobin (Clonmel AC) was first home in 29:17. Shona Heaslip (An Ríocht AC) won the women’s race in 32:49. The first 26 athletes crossed the line in under 32 minutes, proving the potential of the course.
The race is fully supported by the whole community and has proven over the years to be a great occasion with elite athletes, fun runners and those new to running. A great day is planned with great race entertainment for those spectating and supporting.
