Dunshaughlin's 51 cost rental homes boost

The 51 new cost rental homes in Meath announced by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne, will be located in Dunshaughlin.

Minister Browne recently made the announcement that funding of €168m was being allocated for 849 new cost rental and affordable purchase homes across ten different local authorities including Meath County Council.

At the March meeting of Meath County Council, Director of Services Fiona Fallon confirmed that the cost rental homes were to be provided by an approved housing body in Dunshaughlin but they had no further details at that stage.

Also announced by Minister Browne were 14 new affordable purchase homes in the county and Ms Fallon confirmed at the meeting that five of these homes would be in Navan, one in Ashbourne and eight in Trim.

She said once agreement is in place with the developer, they would be opening them up for applications. Under the cost rental scheme, rents are at least 25 per cent below comparable market rates for the area with some developments achieving discounted rates of up to 33 per cent.

To date over 2,640 cost rental homes have been delivered by Approved Housing Bodies, Local Authorities and the Land Development Agency across the country.

Separately, Meath County Council will have a new affordable housing scheme of ten houses at Wellfield, Ratoath, opening for applications soon.

Planning application sought for 25 short term tourist letting accommodation units

A PLANNING application seeking permission for 25 short term tourist letting accommodation units at Mill Lane, Navan, has been submitted to Meath County Council by Ashbourne-based Star Stone Property Investments Limited.

Permission is sought for a five-storey building on a site located between Distillery Quay Apartments to the north-west, Poolboy Gate Mixed Use Building to the south-east, and with frontage onto the River Blackwater to the south-west.

The five-storey over split-level basement building with top floor set-back , if approved, would provide 25 short term tourist letting accommodation units consisting of 24 one bedroom and and one two-bedroom unit, as well as an ESB substation, common room, reception and staff facilities at ground floor and common room, gym and plant room at fourth floor level.

Also included are external terraces at ground floor to the rear, serving common the room and accommodation units, and external balconies at first, second and third floors to the front and rear serving accommodation units and external roof terraces at fourth floor serving the common room and gym to the rear/side and serving accommodation units to the front /side at this level,

Externally, works will include three on-site street level car parking spaces, 23 bike spaces and external platform lift to front at street level.

Council approval for 171 new homes in Dunboyne

Meath County Council has granted planning permission for a large scale residential development of 171 homes Bracetown, Dunboyne. Carroll Estates Dunboyne Limited has been given the green light to develop a site of 5.99 ha, at Old Navan Road, Dunboyne. The 171 homes are made up of 114 houses with a mix of 101 three-bedroom and 13 four-bedroom houses, each with a private garden and 57 apartment/duplex units made up of five one-bed nits, 26 two-bed unit sand 26 three-bed units in seven blocks ranging in height from two to three storeys and each with balconies or terraces.

A total of 301 parking spaces and 195 bicycles spaces are provided through the scheme.

Also included is a childcare facility of 161sqm with outdoor amenity space of 40sqm.
