Trim fashion show promises to be an arresting sight
Gardai from the Meath/Westmeath Division will take to the catwalk in the Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim, on Tuesday, 25th March, in a fashion show fundraiser for the local branches of Down Syndrome Ireland.
Hosted by the Eastern Region of An Garda Siochana Women's Network, the gala event begins with a drinks reception at 6pm with the fashion show taking place at 7pm, followed by a two-course dinner. There will also be a prize for best dressed at the event.
The majority of models will be serving gardai from the Meath and Westmeath Garda Division, but there are also a number of models from the Louth/Meath and Westmeath branches of Down Syndrome Ireland.
One of the organisors Eleanor Cosgrove, who is a garda based in Dunshaughlin, told how the idea for the fundraiser came from Meath North Superintendent Martina Noonan and said when she suggested the local branches of Down Syndrome Ireland as the beneficiaries, she jumped at the chance to help out with organising the event. Eleanor's son Fergus, now 18, has Down Syndrome, so the family has first hand experience of how vital the support of the organisation is. She has also been a committee member for the past 18 years. All proceeds will be distributed locally to support individuals and families in the Meath and Westmeath area.
The boutiques showcasing their fashion include Ribbon Rouge and Geoghegan's in Navan, Ebony, Diaz, Pat O'Byrne Menswear and the St Vincent de Paul in Trim, Blondelles in Ratoath, Female boutique and Wilf's Menswear in Mullingar and L'Ecole Apparel in Carrickmacross. MC for the event is life and business coach and youth coach, Bee Flanagan.
The event comes just after World Down Syndrome Day on 21st March.
