Duleek singer to appear on this week's Glór Tíre
Duleek singer, Erin Noone, appears on tomorrow night's (Tuesday) episode of long-running TG4 country music series Glór Tíre as she bids to become Ireland's next country music star.
Erin applied to be on the very first season of Glór Tíre in 2004, but it’s the new season - the show’s milestone 21st - where she will get to make her mark.
“I did actually audition for the very first season all those years ago, but I’m older now and a bit wiser, so I’ve come full circle. It’s great to be here. If it wasn’t for Glór Tíre, singers like me wouldn’t get this kind of recognition and exposure, and it’s fantastic for that.”
Erin said “looking forward to performing live” on Glór Tíre on TG4 tonight (Tuesday) at 9.30pm, where she will perform solo and with her series mentor, Tyrone Country star, Cliona Hagan.
“Cliona’s fantastic,” Erin declares. “She’s leading the way for women in this industry.”
Erin and Cliona will duet on the Nanci Griffith/John Prine classic, ‘The Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness’. For Cliona Hagan, the song is the perfect platform for Erin’s vocal abilities.
“When I first saw Erin’s audition tape I thought, ‘Wow, what a voice!’,” said Cliona. “It’s a great song, and the way it’s arranged will be really stripped back, to showcase her voice. The two of us were smiling from ear to ear singing that song.”
Erin will also perform solo, delivering a rendition of Willy Nelson’s iconic, ‘You Were Always On My Mind’.
“My favourite thing about Country Music is the story and the story telling, and you have that loneliness in the sound of the steel guitar,” she says. “For me, it’s about the emotions Country Music gives you.”
Erin is now hoping people in Meath get behind her as she begins her Glór Tíre journey. “People love Country Music in Meath. I would appreciate any votes and support the public can give me, and I hope everyone enjoys the show and my song selections.”
Glór Tíre is on TG4 at 9.30pm on Tuesday, 25th March
