John Duffy selected to replace Senator Nelson Murray on Meath County Council

Former Navan Town councillor, John Duffy (Fine Gael) will be co-opted onto Meath County Council at its monthly meeting next week to replace Senator Linda Nelson Murray who was elected to the Seanad earlier this year.

Mr Duffy was chosen by the Fine Gael Party in Navan at a convention in the Ardboyne Hotel tonight (Monday), defeating the only other nominee, Ross Kelly who ran unsuccessfully in the local elections in 2019 and last year.

John Duffy was elected to Navan Town Council in 2004 and served until 2009 when he lost his seat.

Senator Nelson Murray extended her warmest congratulations to Mr Duffy.

"John will now join the other 10 county councillors that Fine Gael have in Meath and will join Cllr Yemi Adenuga in Navan.

"I have no doubt that I will continue to work closely with John, and I really look forward to working on issues for the betterment of Navan.

"I would also like to add my regards to Ross Kelly who ran a great campaign for this convention. Ross is chair of the Navan branch and a good friend to all there.," she said.
