Local groups to represent Royal county at All Island Pride of Place Awards

Kells Community Allotments, Summerhill Tidy Towns and Solas Glan Community Garden, Ardbracken will represent Meath at the All Island Pride of Place Awards.

The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 10th November in Armagh. Meath Co Council has nominated the three groups as representatives of the county in this event.

Kells Community Allotments has been nominated in the Climate Action and Biodiversity Category, showcasing their dedication to fostering sustainability and biodiversity.

Summerhill Tidy Towns has been nominated in the Tidy Village Category.

Solas Glan is nominated in the Community Wellbeing Category.

Pat Barron, chair of Kells Community Allotments, highlighted the organisation's growth, saying, "Kells Community Allotments has flourished, especially since the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. We now have a waiting list for allotments, and our membership has become increasingly diverse and inclusive."

Andy Bogie, treasurer of Kells Allotments, shared his thoughts on the nomination, stating, "We are honored to be nominated for this award. Having an allotment not only promotes self-sufficiency and community bonding but also contributes to a healthier, more sustainable future."
