Navan looking to get back to winning ways

Women's team continue to chalk up victories

Navan will be looking to get back to winning wins in the AIL Div 2A when they take on UL Bohemian at Balreask Old this Saturday.

Last week they went down to Cashel and endured a bitter 18-32 defeat.

At half-time against the Tipperary side at Spafield, Cashel there was every reason for believing Navan could make the lengthy trip back home with a victory.

The visitors led 12-11 and were very much in contention.

However, things went awry for them in the second-half as Cashel pushed on the win with the Meath side only adding five more points to their account. They didn't even have the consolation of a losing bonus point to shorten their trip back home.

Cashel had struck the first blow in the very competitive opening half scoring from a penalty. A few minutes later Navan responded with vigour when Peter McEntagart powered over for a try, which was not converted, putting them 5-3 in front.

McEntagart continued to shine and he crossed the line for his second try of the match, which was converted, helping to extend Navan's lead to 12-3.

The topsy turvy nature of the game continued with Cashel scoring their second penalty goal. Navan had a player sinbinned before Cashel once more demonstrated their resilience when they scored an unconverted try to leave it 12-11 at the interval.

Early in the second-half Navan received another significant blow when one of their players was shown a red card.

Navan did manage to add to their account with two penalty goals but Cashel took full advantage of the numerical superiority to push on and deservedly secure victory.

Next up for Navan is a clash against UL Bohemians in their last game at Balreask Old for this calandar year. They will be hoping to mark the occasion with a victory.
