New drive-thru cafe proposal for Navan Retail Park

Plans for a new drive-through cafe at the Navan Retail Park have been submitted to Meath County Council by the Petrogas Group who already operate an Applegreen Filling Station at the location.

The proposed development consists of a single storey, detached, drive-through cafe of 183sqm which will contain a beverage area (with drive-through hatch), a preparation area, seating area and toilets.

The proposed building is single storey with a maximum ridge height of 4.95m (excluding signage). There will be an electric room and bin compound at the rear of the building.

At present the site, which measures 0.19ha, consists of a vacant grassed area and three rows of car parking totalling 32 car parking spaces.

It will be a standalone facility but also an ancillary element of the existing service station operated by Petrogas at this location. The purpose is to provide an alternative to the main filling station for customers and those who want to just avail of a quick coffee and pastry and don't have to engage with the main petrol station which involves a longer wait time.

Customers have the option of sitting in, sitting outside or collecting and driving off site. Outdoor seating is provided to the south. The cafe building would be similar to their existing one in Ashbourne.

Permission is also sought for vehicular access, internal circulation road, paving, landscaping, boundary treatment, signage on the building and free-standing signage, removal of existing car parking and provision of new replacement car park arrangement, cycle parking and all associated site works.

A total of 13 car park spaces are proposed, nine within the drive-through facility and four along the west of the site. The applicant says approximately 20 full and part time jobs would be created.
