Boliden Tara Mines planning construction of solar farm

Boliden Tara Mines is proposing to construct a solar farm development on lands at Liscarton and Knockumber, Navan.

The company has advertised its intention to apply for a ten-year-planning permission for the solar energy development with a total site area of approximately 34 hectares.

The proposed development consists of photovoltaic solar panels on steel mounted frames, electrical inverters, electrical power stations, electrical control building and associated electrical apparatus, underground electrical and communications cabling, on-site access tracks, a temporary construction compound, security fencing and security gates, pole mounted security cameras and all associated and ancillary site development, landscaping and reinstatement works.

The operational lifetime of proposed development is 35 years. The development is related to an activity requiring an industrial emissions licence. The planning application is accompanied by an Environmental Impact Assessment Screening Report and a Natura Impact Statement.
