Kells-based drummer rides Chrome Horse to Navan

Raucous rockers Chrome Horse - who are receiving rave reviews from the national music press - showcase their debut album on Friday night next, 19th December at The Cellar Bar, in the Newgrange Hotel, Navan. National music mag Hot Press have given the album rave reviews: 'The band"s tunes are fist in the air, defiantly traditional rock songs that stomp and riff with the best of them ... the organ-fuelled, amped-up fury of 'Cousin Tom" and 'Antifreeze" are pretty much perfect slices of rock 'n" roll.' The band travelled to Poland earlier this year to record their debut album 'Songs From The Last Revolution". Chrome Horse, whose name comes from a line in the Bob Dylan classic 'Like A Rolling Stone", have already had radio success with their promo recording of 'Antifreeze" hitting the number one spot on Dublin rock radio Phantom 105.2 last year. The band formed mid-2006 with four members from Armagh and the fifth from Opole, Poland. Operating out of Dublin and Kells, the band now plan a tour of Ireland, UK and Poland to back the release of their album. Based in Kells is the drummer Maciej Szczepanski who has organised the Navan gig. Also in the line-up is Tony Villiers, vocals/guitar, Gordon Lee, guitar, Adrian Lee, bass, and Anthony McKee on organ. They recently supported Polish reggae band Izrael at a sell-out show in Dublin"s Voodoo Lounge, with comparisons being drawn with mighty rock icons such as MC5, Black Sabbath and The Clash. Their unique sound has garnered high praise from Rigsy, host of BBC Radio Ulster"s music show 'Across The Line", who declared Chrome Horse as 'a great band', their album as 'balls-out rock', and enthusiastically added '... we really love this album!' to a long list of superlatives. The Irish News also heaped praise on the album, describing it as '..a thrilling Farfisa soaked rock 'n" roll racket from start to finish' and their soon-to-be-released single 'Death Row" as 'one of the best psyche-rock tunes to come out of Ireland or anywhere else this century.' 'Songs From The Last Revolution" which is available for free download from the Chrome Horse Myspace page: www.myspace.com/chromehorserock. Doors in the Newgrange open at 9pm on the night. Support on the night is from local musician Robbie Fitzgerald.
