Trim Convent to turn into tourism accommodation facility
Plans to convert Trim’s 19th century Mercy Convent from its current residential offering to a tourism accommodation, have been approved by Meath County Council.
The development will consist of the change of use from residential convent to tourism accommodation in ten apartment suites. The plans also involve the removal of a modern toilet and bathroom block, reconfiguration, refurbishments, repairs and alterations to the internal layout.
The ten apartment suites are said to be available for 'short term let', which will include, at times, letting out the convent as a whole, including the chapel.
The Convent is a protected structure and is located within the Trim historical architectural conservation area and the Trim zone of archaeological potential.
Planning permission has been granted by Meath Co Council, subject to conditions.
