Ulreeka leads the way for Wagathon
Ulreeka’s Wagathon, a charitable event dedicated to supporting the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and inspired by Ulreeka, the community dog who has been with Dunboyne College for nearly two years took place outside the college last week.
The Wagathon is not just a fundraising event; it's a celebration of the special bond between dogs and their owners. Participants took part in a sponsored dog walk, offering two routes of 2km and 4km, designed to accommodate all levels of fitness and enthusiasm.
According to a DCFE spokesperson Ulreeka has become more than just a dog at DCFE. "She's a symbol of companionship, resilience, and the therapeutic power of animals. Her presence on campus has had an incredible impact on students, providing emotional support and enhancing the overall college experience. The event is named in her honour, embodying the spirit of community and mutual support that she represents.
Following the walk, the Dog Village awaits, offering attendees the opportunity to capture memories with their pets through portraits, paw prints, or caricatures. Additionally, homemade dog treats will be available for purchase, along with the presence of experts from Village Vets and Positive Puppies, and representatives from the Guide Dogs for the Blind.
