Can-do approach from Meath Camogie hoping to build for a brighter future

Innovative, progressive and forward-thinking. Meath Camogie certainly can't be accused of sitting back complaining about a lack of facilities as this week they launched their 'Your plastic is our pitch' fundraiser.

The concept is very simple. Meath Camogie want Meath people, Meath supporters, to help them collect 2,000,000 bottles which they can return for recycling and in turn raise €500,000 for the purchase and development of their own playing facilities, exclusively for Meath Camogie.

Meath Camogie have found themselves in difficult situations over the last few years when it came to finding somewhere to train for massive games, including All-Ireland Intermediate finals and National League finals.

With no where to call their own home Meath Camogie have been at the mercy of the generosity of clubs as the cost of training in such places like Dunganny and Abbotstown became prohibitive.

Thankfully several clubs have come up trumps when it came to offering their facilities, but there were times last year when Meath Camogie had to prepare for massive games in places like the Porchfields in Trim for example, a community amenity that isn't ideal to develop the fine skills of hurling.

However, this new initiative which is supported by the Meath camogie sponsors, Noel and Valerie Moran of Bective Stud, will go a long way to removing those obstacles and give the Royals a place they can call home.
