The late Adrian (Aidie) Sheridan. RIP.

Tributes paid to man who died following construction accident

The man who died in the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday) following a work-related accident has been named locally as Adrian Sheridan, better known as Aidie from Kilcogy, Co Cavan.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is investigating the construction-related incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, June 18.

The Kilcogy and wider Mullahoran community in County Cavan are shocked following the death of the popular father of four young boys.

Aidie was a member of the Sheridan family who run The Farmers' Pub in Kilcogy.

Mullahoran GFC posted a tribute online.

"Mullahoran GFC would like to send our deepest condolences to Gemma and Sheridan Family (Kilcogy) on the passing of Aidie Sheridan.

"Aidie was a great supporter and member of Mullahoran GFC over the years both as a player and as a sponsor of the club. Two of Aidie’s four sons currently play with our U8 team, which he helped coach.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis."

When news spread of Aidie's accident, the community rallied around and Our Lady of Lourdes Church hosted a Holy Hour from 11:30pm to 12:30am for special intentions.

Sadly, Aidie passed away as a result of his injuries in the early hours of the morning.

His funeral details have since been confirmed.

He will repose at his home (N39C7W2) today (Thursday) from 4-8pm and again on Friday from 4-8pm.

Aidie's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran, at 1pm, with internment afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

His funeral mass can be viewed live here.
