Monzi will perform at ‘Shindig’.

Navan artists join in Berlin ‘Shindig’ in September

Some of Ireland’s very finest musicians and artists will take over Berlin for one unique night of music in the heart of Berlin this autumn. 'Shindig', curated by Irish duo Perlee (Saramai Leech and Cormac O’Keeffe) brings together an ‘A Team’ of Irish songwriters and musicians on Saturday 28th September 28th at the prestigious Lido venue with Rough Trade Berlin, Flux FM and The Berliner amongst those teaming up to get behind the one-off event.

The line-up includes Oisín Leech, whose debut solo album ‘Cold Sea’ is already being hailed as one of the albums of 2024. Also on this superb line-up are stellar Irish artists Aoife Nessa Frances, Brigid Mae Power, AS Fanning, Perlee, David Hedderman, Rufus Coates and Jess Smith, and Monzi. The night is part of Zeitgeist Irland 24, an initiative of Culture Ireland and the Embassy of Ireland in Germany.

Curator, Navan native Saramai Leech of Perlee sheds light on some of her inspiration behind putting on this special gig: “We are massive fans of all the artists on this line-up and are excited to see it all come together. We wanted to bring together musicians and friends for a concert in the city we have fallen in love with. Yes it will be an Irish night but presenting perhaps a different side to Irish music than people might typically expect. We’ve written EPs and albums here in Berlin so it has been an abundant, inspiring and formative time and we want to celebrate that as we move on. For this Shindig Festival expect a dreamy, gothic, psychedelic, folky knees-up kind of evening with exquisite songwriting, musicianship and some collaboration also."

There will also be an exemplary house band to embrace the collaborative ethos of this musical feast. Kev Sheridan will be on drums, Aidan Floatinghome will play bass clarinet with Dave Hedderman while Molly Donnery, a great artist in her own right, will feature on harp and Graham Heaney will join Oisin Leech on double bass. Doors will open early on this Autumnal Saturday, at Lido venue, in Berlin, to showcase the mystic songwriting abilities of some of Ireland's foremost contemporary voices.
