Hospital overcrowding: 365 patients waiting for beds in Irish hospitals

The latest figures from the Irish Midwives and Nurses Organisation (INMO) show there is 365 patients waiting for beds in hospitals across the country.

244 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 121 are in wards elsewhere in hospitals.

University Hospital Limerick has the highest number of patients waiting for a bed with 59 patients on trolleys. 22 of those people are in the emergency department.

40 people are on trolleys in University Hospital Cork, while 37 people are waiting for beds in University Hospital Galway.
