Looking ahead. Robbie Brennan.

Brennan's appointment confirmed as Meath manager

Robbie Brennan has been confirmed as the manager of the Meath senior football team.

For days now the appointment of the Dunboyne man had been expected.

In a statement Meath Co Committee confirmed that he is the man to replace Colm O'Rourke.

"Meath GAA is thrilled to announce the appointment of Robbie Brennan, as the new senior football team manager pending ratification at our next County Committee meeting.

"Brennan, a Dunboyne man, is a former senior player and the current St Peter’s minor coach.

"Brennan who led Kilmacud Crokes to multiple Dublin senior titles, will take charge for the next three years, beginning with the upcoming season.

"Brennan’s extensive experience at the top level, including guiding Kilmacud Crokes to the pinnacle of club football with their All-Ireland Club Championship win, makes him an outstanding choice to lead Meath forward. His proven leadership and commitment to excellence have earned him a stellar reputation in the sport.

"Brennan's backroom team has extensive senior inter-county experience. The backroom team will be made up by Martin Corey and Joe McMahon.

"Martin Corey has coached both Cavan and Monaghan to All-Ireland SFC semi-finals. Joe McMahon coached Tyrone in 2021 to Ulster and All-Ireland SFC championships.

"Meath GAA Chairperson Jason Plunkett, who chaired the interview committee, expressed his gratitude to Liam Keane and those from the football development committee who assisted: 'Everyone in Meath GAA, wishes the team every success and we will support the team as best we can. We are eager to see what Robbie and his team can accomplish as we look to a new era.'

"Brennan himself expressed his excitement about the new role: “It’s an honour to be appointed as the Senior Football Team Manager for Meath. I’m excited to work with such a talented group of players. My focus will be on driving this team forward, and I can’t wait to get started.”

"Meath GAA looks forward to a bright future under Brennan’s leadership as they aim to build on their strengths and strive for success in the seasons ahead."
