500-acre solar farm plan for Clonee

Plans for a large solar farm development covering more than 500 acres in the Clonee area have been lodged with Meath Co Council.

Soleire Renewables Holdings Limited is looking for a ten year planning permission to develop the solar farm on a 215 hectares site in the townlands of Ballymacoll Little, Boolies, Nuttstown, Ballintry, Belgree, Rowan and Kinoristown, Co Meath. It comprises of two separate land parcels divided by local roads.

The solar farm would be operational for a period of 40 years and the planning application includes its subsequent decommissioning.

A Natura Impact Statement has also been submitted with the application.

In July, summer Soleire Renewables held a public information meeting in Dunboyne Castle in relation to the proposal following by a five-week community engagement process ahead of the submission of the planning application.
