ATM raids across the North East - A Timeline
ATM RAID TIMELINE
The first ATM heist was carried out, targeting the Bank of Ireland in Ballybay where just short of €112,000 was taken.
This time it was the Bank of Ireland branch in Kingscourt with €125,000 stolen.
AIB Bank in Castleblayney was next with the ATM holding €70,000 on that occasion.
The gang gets even more brazen hitting two banks in Kells on the same night- the Bank of Ireland and the AIB branch across the street. They make off with €230,000 From the Bank of Ireland ATM and €240,000 from the AIB ATM- some €470,000 between the two.
Their attempt to rob the ATM at the Riverfront Bar and Restaurant at Main Street, Virginia was foiled. Armed with intelligence a surveillance operation was in place and the gang was caught in the act.
Niall Finnegan (39) of Cherry Grove, Cullyhanna, Co Armagh, was sentenced for four and a half years with the final 18 months suspended for possessing cash which was the proceeds of the ATM thefts.
Monaghan brothers Stephen, Gerard and Ciaran Duffy receive combined jail sentences of 19 and a half years after pleading guilty at the Special Criminal Court.
Gerard Duffy (31) of Greagh, Loughnamore, Co Monaghan, was jailed for eight years and nine months with the last year suspended.
His brother Ciaran (29) fo the same address was also jailed for eight years nine months with the final year suspended.
Eldest brother Stephen Duffy (35) of Tullynahinera, Castleblayney,was sentenced to four years and nine months with the final year suspended.
Daniel O'Callaghan (32) of Monog Road, Crossmaglen was jailed for ten years. He was handed an 11-year sentence with the final year suspended after being convicted the previous month following a trial of 16 offences in relation to the ATM thefts.
