PREMIER FC DIV 4 FINAL

Dunderry 1-12

Walterstown 1-8

Dunderry came out on top against Waltrstown to claim the Premier FC Div 4 title in Simonstown on Sunday. The sides traded scores in the early exchanges with Mark Leavy and Donagh O Laoire getting Dunderry off the mark. O Laoire then edged Dunderry ahead before Rian Fay widened the gap to two.

Walterstown responded with two points in quick succession but points from the influential Conor Sheridan and Adam Kelly restored Dunderry's two-point advantage. A Walterstown converted free brought the first half to a close with Dunderry leading 0-6 to 0-5.

Kelly got proceedings underway in the second-half before Walterstown hit back with two points to leave one between the sides. O Laoire and Fay linked up once more, this time it was O Laoire who finished the move before Leavy and Doherty stretched the gap to four points in favour of the Dunderry man.

Dunderry pressed on further when Kelly broke through the defence and buried the ball to the back of the Walterstown net. Dunderry now held a seven-point lead. However, Walterstown weren't dead and buried yet. Two points in quick succession preceded Walterstown being awarded a penalty with Dunderry 'keeper Chris Fitzgerald receiving a black card in the process.

The penalty was successful and only two points separated the sides heading into the closing stages. It was Alan Watters' side that finished the strongest though and two points from Leavy ensured that Dunderry were crowned champions.
