Macra to host event focusing on farm succession this week
Meath Macra na Feirme is this week holding an event focusing on the critical topic of Farm Succession, on Thursday 10th October at 8pm in the Balreask Arms, Navan.
Farm succession planning is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of farm management and sustainability. This event aims to provide valuable insights and guidance to farmers and their families on how to navigate the complexities involved in transferring farm ownership to the next generation.
The evening will feature expert speakers from Land Mobility Services and Teagasc, who will share their knowledge on starting the conversation, financial considerations, and services available to assist. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the steps required to ensure a smooth and effective transition of farm assets, which is vital for the long-term success and stability of family farms.
In addition to the practical aspects of farm succession, the event will also highlight the importance of mental health and well-being in rural Ireland. SOSAD Ireland, a mental health support organisation, will be present to discuss the resources available to support those in need.
"We are excited to bring this important discussion to the farming community in Meath," said Meath Macra na Feirme chairperson Martin Flood. "Farm succession planning can be a challenging process, and we hope this event will provide clarity, support, and encouragement to all attendees."
The event is free to attend, and all members of the farming community are encouraged to join. Light refreshments will be served, providing an opportunity for networking and discussions.
